The world’s telecommunications network was built for voice, billed by time and distance. This remained true for over 100 years. Now, there is far more data by volume in the carrier’s core networks and much of this is IP. Traditional billing doesn’t fit IP at all well and new paradigms are needed. As well as introducing billing in telecommunications generally, this two day course examines IP, its applications and the challenges of IP on the billing industry today. A discussion of mobile IP billing and how it impacts fixed billing systems is included.
